Responsible value chain
Number of Active Suppliers by Country, 2024
Our supply chain is made up of 3,773 suppliers across the region. Although we added new operations, the total number of suppliers decreased as we simultaneously refined the list of active suppliers.
Purchases from Formal Community Suppliers, 2024
We purchased a total of US$826.4 million from our suppliers in 2024. 84.1% of these purchases were made in Guatemala. Of the US$155.1 million purchased from foreign suppliers, US$48.3 million went to suppliers in the United States. 98.1% of our purchases in 2024 were under one million dollars per transaction, a practice that tends to favor small suppliers.
Thriving Communities
Local Monetary Flow
In 2024, we contributed a total of US$23.0 million to the economies of San Juan Sacatepéquez and Sanarate, home to our San Gabriel and San Miguel cement plants, respectively. This amount reflects a 10% increase compared to the previous year. Monetary flows have grown steadily over the past five years.
Local Employment
We prioritize hiring local talent from the communities where we operate across all business units. Local employees are those who were born or live permanently in the municipalities or surrounding areas where our operations are located. The average local employment rate across the holdings was 36.0% in 2024, with significantly higher participation in Belize, Panama, and Colombia.
HogaRES Program
HogaRES has become a flagship national program and operates through one of the country’s largest public-private partnerships. It includes 14 strategic partners and an intersectoral alliance, covering 24% of the country’s municipalities. To date, 5,180 dirt floors have been replaced, benefiting 25,900 people. As part of the initiative, four communities have been declared dirt-floor free.
Progreso contributed 843 of those floors.
